Radar Environmental Simulator (RES) delivers an effective, innovativeapproach to the difficult tasks of radar sub-system test, evaluation, andintegration through a realtime, high fidelity simulation of the radarenvironment. RES can be used to create arbitrary radar environments in alaboratory, production, training, or field test facility.RES can produce up to 30 simultaneous target echo returns consistent withuser-specifiable motion over a wide topocentric area. Individual targetscan display any number of characteristics, including glint, fluctuation,and multipath. An active background is also modeled, giving clutterregions user-specifiable Doppler spectra, wind motion, amplitudescintillation, reflectivity, and global spatial distribution. Weather,chaff, ground, and sea clutter types are also handled.
